Peer Massage

Massage in Schools Programme

The Massage in Schools Programme (MISP) was first introduced into UK schools in 2001. It is a programme of positive touch and clothed peer massage for children aged 4–12 years and their parents. Over the course of 4-6 sessions, children learn a routine of 15 massage strokes that can then be used on a daily basis to help children calm and be ready for learning. It is used in schools, child centred organisations and the home to improve children’s wellbeing.

Story Massage

Story Massage involves the use of 10 easy-to-follow massage strokes associated with spoken words that help to build up an engaging story. Movements and stories can be adapted to suit the individual needs of children of varying ages and abilities.
